Anushka is an economist with a track record of research and advisory work across Asia. He is currently Advisor to the Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade focussing on trade reforms, competitiveness and innovation. In this current role he is driving the implementation of the new ‘National Export Strategy’ and the ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship Strategy’. He was the National Consultant to the International Trade Centre Geneva for formulating the sector strategies for the electronics industry and the IT-BPM industry under the National Export Strategy. Anushka is also leading Sri Lanka’s engagement with the World Economic Forum on its ‘Future of Production Systems’ initiative that focusses on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
In previous roles he was the Chief Economist of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce where he led research and policy influence for enterprise friendly economic policies and regulations.
Anushka serves on the Board of Directors of Seylan Bank PLC, FairFirst Insurance Ltd, and HNB Grameen Finance Ltd, and serves on the Monetary Policy Consultative Committee of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
Anushka holds a Masters in Economics and Development from the University of Leeds Business School, UK, and BSc (Hons.) in Economics from the University College London, UK. He is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education.
